FHLBank Topeka Announces 2013 Affordable Housing Program Grants
October 3, 2013
FHLBank Topeka’s board of directors approved approximately $10.7 million in grants through the 2013 Affordable Housing Program (AHP).
AHP grants were awarded to 37 applicants and are projected to improve or create 1,421 housing units. Nearly 65% of the projects focus on rental properties, and about 35% are homeowner projects.
This year, FHLBank Topeka received 67 applications for AHP grants with requests for almost $18.9 million to fund projects in the FHLBank four-state district (CO, KS, NE, OK). The $10.7 million awarded is close to $1.9 million more than what was funded in 2012.
Earlier this summer, FHLBank Topeka also awarded nearly $1 million to 40 economic development projects through the Joint Opportunities for Building Success (JOBS) program. The grants were distributed to applicants in the four states in FHLBank Topeka's district (CO – 1 KS – 19 NE – 9 OK – 11).
