FHLBank Topeka announces 2013 AHAC appointments

FHLBank Topeka and its board of directors congratulate five members who were appointed to the Affordable Housing Advisory Council (AHAC). The 12 AHAC members advise FHLBank on the administration of its housing and community development programs. The Council is made up of representatives of housing and community development organizations throughout Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
The five appointees include two incumbents who have made significant contributions to the AHAC during previous service. Serving consecutive terms helps them become proficient in the many details of FHLBank’s affordable housing programs.
Returning AHAC members:
Bill Major of Tulsa, Okla., is executive director of Zarrow Family Foundations, which provides support for the disadvantaged (including mentally ill and mentally and physically challenged children, youth and adults and the homeless). Mr. Major has experience in the development of affordable housing and founded the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. He has a bachelor’s degree from Phillips University and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix.
Joe Rowan of Fort Collins, Colo., is executive director of Funding Partners for Housing Solutions, Inc. and Funding Partners Lending LLC, a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution that creates access to capital and credit within underserved markets and among target populations throughout Colorado. Mr. Rowan has experience in mortgage loan origination and residential mortgage brokerage. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University.
New AHAC appointees:
Jane Harrington of Denver, Colo., is executive director of Colorado Community Land Trust a nonprofit organization whose mission is creating and preserving affordable home ownership opportunities for moderate income individuals and families. Ms. Harrington has experience in the development and implementation of programs that provide home ownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income households. Ms. Harrington has a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University.
Donald Smith of Kansas City, Kan., is executive director of Community Housing of Wyandotte County, Inc., a nonprofit organization emphasizing home ownership and community engagement in urban core neighborhoods. Mr. Smith has experience in project planning and project management. He has a bachelor’s degree in architectural studies and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Kansas.
Brent Williams of Lincoln, Neb., is president and CEO of Excel Development Group whose mission is the development of safe, decent, quality affordable housing for low-to-moderate income families and seniors. Mr. Williams has experience in the planning and development of affordable housing. He has a bachelor’s degree from Doane College.
