FHLBank Topeka regrets to announce the death of Nebraska board member

FHLBank Topeka’s board and executive team are deeply saddened to announce that Harley Bergmeyer, long-time board member from Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26. Bergmeyer, 74, was the chairman of First State Bank Nebraska, Wilber, Nebraska. He was an FHLBank board member from 2003 to 2006 and 2011 to present and served on numerous committees.
Bergmeyer was an advocate for community banking. The majority of his career was spent as President and CEO of Saline State Bank. He also served on other bank and civic boards and was active with the Nebraska Bankers Association and American Bankers Association. He was especially proud of earning the Frank Bruning Ag Banker of the Year Award.
He and his wife of 53 years, Marcia, were avid fans of the University of Nebraska. He also was a devoted father and grandfather.
